Eat At Joes

Just a regular Joe who is angry that the USA, the country he loves, is being corrupted and damaged from within and trying to tell his fellow Americans the other half of the story that they don’t get on the TV News.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

I want to wish a very happy Veteran’s Day to all currently in military service and all those who have served in the US military including my cousin who served in the Iraq War. Thank you one and all for your sacrifice on our behalf.

Right at the start of the Iraq War I wrote a letter to the editor thanking all who have serviced in the US armed services. I explained even those who disagreed with President Bush’s decision to invade Iraq appreciate the service and sacrifice of US service members and I thanked them for their service. I sent this letter to over a dozen US newspapers, and only one printed it. That one newspaper was Stars and Stripes the official newspaper of the US military. I received a personal call from the letters editor thanking me for my letter. They published the letter twice. The stateside newspapers were at that time and since engaging in a deception that those who disagreed with Bush on invading Iraq did NOT support the troops. This was the message broadcast every evening on televised news and in print, although everyone I know who opposed the Iraq War very much support the troops and appreciate their sacrifice. Once the war started I sent emails to service members thanking them for their service and letting them know that those of us who disagree with Bush thank them and have nothing against them. I started donating blood every eight weeks to a blood bank that provides some of their blood to US service members so that anyone wounded in this war could have my blood with my heartfelt thanks.

So many Bush supporters think they have a monopoly on appreciation for our troops, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Republicans in Congress have been cutting funding for veterans from the start of this administration; the Defense Department has shortchanged servicemen and women by not providing them adequate armor and supplies that their families have had to buy for them because Rumsfeld won’t; Republicans in Congress announced on Tuesday that for the first time in at least 55 years, “veterans service organizations will no longer have the opportunity to present testimony before a joint hearing of the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committees;” our brave men and women have been put in harms way, and the Bush Administration refuses to tell us the truth about this conflict. That is NOT supporting the troops.

Veterans themselves are questioning whether President Bush and members of his administration have any concern for our troops and with good reason. Iraq War Veterans are calling for a thorough investigation of the Bush Administration’s use or misuse of pre-war intelligence. Something that Republicans and their lackeys in the Mainstream Media are trying to prevent.

Again thank you to all servicemen and women current and past and a very happy Veteran’s Day to all.
